The signs are drawn from DOT's traffic sign inventory database which is used by the Iowa DOT in managing its inventory of traffic signs in the State of Iowa. The database keeps track of the description, location, installation and inspection dates for DOT traffic signs that are predominately on the primary road system and/or signs that are owned or maintained by the Iowa DOT. This data has been collected mainly through in field data collection efforts of field maintenance staff utilizing either the Collector application or the older laptop based sign inventory program. This data is updated nearly daily by field maintenance staff.
